New Metropark Parking System
Becomes Operational July 5, 2007

As part of our ongoing effort to improve your commuting experience, NJ TRANSIT and Nexus
Parking Systems have upgraded the access and payment systems for this parking facility. The
new system provides:

  • Convenience. Customers will be able to park in any available space in either parking deck
    rather than be forced to find spaces designated for monthly or daily parking.
  • Safety and security. The elimination of designated parking spaces and designated deck
    parking will translate into improved traffic flow and safer circulation throughout both
    parking decks. In addition, the new closed system offers improved security.
  • Customer service. The new pay stations and gate readers are replacing machines that
    are more than 10 years old. They will provide fast transactions and are less prone to both
    mechanical and network failures.

Daily Parking

  • Customers who use daily parking can now access both the East and West garages. Enter
    the garages by taking a ticket at the entrance gate. (Simply press the blue button to
    receive a ticket.) Take this ticket with you when you leave your car.
  • Before you get on the train or after you return to Metropark, pay for daily parking
    using cash or credit card at the payment machines located near the elevators on Level G
    or Level 3. After payment, take your validated ticket from the payment machine, proceed
    to your vehicle and at the exit gate insert your ticket into the exit station. The gate will open
    to exit.
  • Long term parkers in excess of 24 hours should pay for parking when you return to
    Metropark to ensure that you have paid the full amount due.

Monthly Parking

  • Monthly customers can now access or exit both the East and West garages by simply
    using their access cards when entering and exiting the garage. Please note that access
    cards will only work for exit when it has been used to enter—so remember not to
    take a ticket and always use your access card.
    To enter or exit the garage, simply hold
    your access card near the reader and wait for the gate to rise. Monthly parkers may now
    use any available space in the garage.
